As regards Spanish legislation Royal Decree 1435/1992 ,laying down the implementing provisions of Council Directive 89/392/EEC , on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to Machinery lays down a number of essential safety and health requirements to neutralize special hazards due to lifting operations, as well as THE requirements of the CE marking of conformity.

As regards European legislationthe UNE-EN 1492-1:2001 standards for textile slings. Security. Flat woven tape slings, made of general purpose chemical fibers and UNE-EN 12195-2:2001 devices for cargo clamping in road vehicles. Security. Tie tapes made from chemical fibers arise as a means to meet safety requirements, including methods of evaluation and testing of flat woven ribbon slings, endless sewn flat woven tapes, mooring and charging devices.

From a series of definitions of types of tapes, accessories, parts of the tapes, safety indicators in terms of lengths, workloads, belt capacity, breakage force, etc., standards set a number of risks to be taken into account and safety guidelines for testing and subsequent use of tapes.

In order to achieve the quality objective in this type of product, these standards place special emphasis on the marking of the tapes. The first thing to note is that a color code is set, as a general rule, for labels, depending on the material on the tape: polyamide - green polyester - blue polypropylene - brown As more specific requirements, we find:

UNE-EN 1492-1 RULE

Slings of flat woven ribbons. The marking of the sling should include, as a minimum, the following, taking into account that a section of the tag must be sewn under the cover, which must also be marked with this information for reference purposes:

·Maximum utilization load in vertical elevation (CMU)
·Tape material
·Accessory class
·Length of the tape (mts)
·Name of manufacturer, brand or distinctive symbol
·Traceability code
·Number and relevant part of the European standard
·Additionally, the maximum loads of use of the sling can be included in various forms of use.
·The CE marking can be placed in any visible place on the label.

UNE-EN 12195-2 RULE

Mooring ribbons manufactured from chemical fibers. The marking should include, as a minimum, the following, taking into account that each complete set of tie-down tapes, if their parts are intended to be separable, should be marked with the following information, if applicable, on a tag:

·Lashing capacity (LC), which is the maximum force that the lashing strap is designed to withstand in straight traction.
·Lengths in meters:
Single-part tape:Lg: length measured from the free end of the tape to the outer turning radius of its
connection to the tensioning device.
Two-part lashing strap: Lgf: length of the fixed end, measured from the clamping point of the force of the end piece to the external turning radius of the connecting element of the tape on the tensioning device. Lgl: length of the adjustable end, measured from the free end of the tape to the clamping point of the strength of the end piece.
·Normalized manual force: manual operating force of 500N (50 daN on the label).
·Normalized tension force, after loosening of the ratchet crank or winch force based on the level at which the tensioning device has been subjected in the type test, when it has been designed for frictional lashing.
·Notice: Do not use to raise loads
·Material
·Name or symbol of the manufacturer
·Traceability code Standard

·CE marking, anywhere on the tape

As in elevation, the information must be marked, legibly and indelibly, on a durable label affixed directly on the lashing strap. A section of the label must be sewn under the cover, which must also be marked with the same information, for reference purposes.
LThe end pieces, tension retaining tension devices and tension indicators LC = 5 Kn, must be marked with the name or symbol of the manufacturer or supplier.
The value of LC must be marked in the parts of LC = 5 Kn in Kn and in the LC parts <5 Kn in daN.
